Rare 17.8 ct Sphene & Diamond Ring

Write a Review

This sparkling, one-of-a-kind cocktail ring is crafted in solid 18K yellow gold and features a fancy, cushion-cut, AAA sphene at the center and flanked by colorless, pave-set diamonds.

This is a very rare sphene. It's origin is Pakistan, and due to its vanadium content, the color will slightly change in candlelight and incandescent lighting from green to golden brown. Also known as sphene titanate, this is one of the world's most spectacular gemstones. This gemstone has a very high refractive index, and a dispersion that far exceeds diamonds. It is commonly referred to as a "Christmas tree flash". It is impossible to photograph the spectacular sparks (dispersion) of this gemstone. Bright sunlight gives you the 'rainbow' color flashes. This gemstone's clarity, magnificent size and color saturation make it one of the rarest of the rare sphenes.

Sphene is the premier statement gemstone. It's spectacular in its color, sparkle and rarity. Sphene is a softer gemstone, so we don't recommend it for everyday wear. At 5.5 on the Mohs' scale of hardness, it is a suitable ring to be your 'special occasion' ring.
