This is one of the rarest and most sought-after gemstones: copper and manganese Paraiba tourmaline. It's one of the rarest and most expensive gemstones. These tourmalines are judged by their 1) color, 2) size, 3) clarity.
This one has a rare bubblegum pink color and saturation. It's size and clarity are also rare as it's almost 4 carats with VVS clarity, which is rare for a Type III gemstone. Moderate inclusions are considered normal for Paraibas and pink tourmalines. Paraibas, as with other colored gemstones are graded by the eye only. Diamonds are always graded with at 10x loupe. The GIA lists the Paraiba tourmalines (from Brazil and Mozambique) as the most sought-after of all colored gemstones - and one of the rarest.
We put this ring in 18K white gold with a row of colorless diamonds graduating from larger to smaller with French millegrain on the band. We added more glistening diamonds to almost every angle of this ring [one of our trademarks]. Diamonds on the setting basket holding this gorgeous gemstone for one-of-a-kind sparkle at every angle. We took the photos for this ring in sunlight with some clouds and the sparkle was still beautiful.
