This is a natural Lightning Ridge Australian Black Opal in an 18K rose gold setting with a halo of large, best quality diamonds. This opal itself is large and has a big red rolling pattern.  

Very little Black Opal is being mined in the Lightning Ridge area of Australia.  Several years ago there were many mines operating and today there are less than a handful.
