Product Description
There are several kinds of tourmaline, some common some rare. Paraiba and indicolite are rare, as well as dravite. Dravite (pronounced with a short 'a') is rare in clear, facetable form. Dravite is usually brown to olive in color, and rich in magnesium. Though much dravite is mostly in dull forms that are uninteresting to collectors, the large well formed crystals and rare transparent forms (like this one) are very much in demand among collectors. Dravite is rarely used in jewelry as it is very hard to come by in clear, beautiful jewelry-grade gemstones.
This is a larger gemstone ring (almost 8 carats), expertly cut in a 12 sided round and our designer set it in 14K white gold to complement the gemstone's colors. Diamonds on the shoulders (3 sides) further enhance this one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry. As with other tourmaline, dravite is hard, measuring a 7.5 on the Mohs' Scale, similar to aquamarine and zircon. This clear dravite is olive green to brown with amber and bright orange flash.
